We have a flat fee for adoptions as follows:

Turkey Dogs, all ages = $800*

Purebred U.S. pups under 1 year old = $600

All other U.S. dogs, regardless of age = $400

All U.S. dogs 9 years of age or older will be adopted to senior citizens (people 70 years +) at no charge

*higher price helps pay for the transport costs to America from Turkey

All applications require a $25 nonrefundable application fee. You must be 21 years of age to complete an application. Adopt A Golden Atlanta, Inc. requires a fenced in yard for all homes with children under 6 years old. Invisible fencing is acceptable for some dogs and not for others. The Adopt A Golden Atlanta Board of Directors reserves the right to decline placement of a dog who is not a good candidate for an invisible fence into a home with such fencing. The only acceptable invisible fencing is the Invisible Fence brand -, the Dog Watch Hidden Fence brand -, and Dog Guard - In addition, the Adopt A Golden Atlanta Board of Directors reserves the right to require standard fencing for certain dogs in the program (puppy mill dogs, strays for example), regardless of whether there are children in the home or not.

Adopted Goldens must wear a collar and ID tags (including an Adopt A Golden Atlanta tag) at all times. Retractable leashes are prohibited for Adopt A Golden dogs. These leashes have proven dangerous to humans and dogs.

In most cases, any applicant not meeting fencing and child age restrictions will be unable to adopt a Golden from Adopt A Golden Atlanta, Inc. However, we realize that occasionally there are exceptional circumstances. For those cases, experienced dog owners are invited to request an exemption by submitting a detailed letter describing their circumstances. In order to be considered for exemption, a letter of recommendation from a veterinarian detailing the care of any current or previous pets must also be submitted.
