Dusty's Emergency (GVS) Surgical Fund
The monies donated to this fund will be used for any AGA Orphan requiring emergency treatment at Georgia Veterinary Specialists (GVS), Atlanta. This includes, but not limited to, orthopedic surgeries on knees, hips, elbows, endoscopic retrievals of balls and towels in stomachs and complications from heartworm treatment. This fund has been established in honor of Dusty.
Dusty was a very handsome older red golden found wandering the country roads of north Georgia. We thought he was lost, but now we know he was sent on a very special mission. Dusty’s new Mom was looking for a dog that would love to go to the lake, hiking, running, and all the things she loved to do. Dusty was just the guy for the job. He went with her everywhere and was a champion retriever of tennis balls, Frisbees, sticks, and you name it. They had a blast playing together and just hanging out. Dusty was the only alarm clock Mom needed and would snuggle up for a belly rub every morning. Dusty and his Mom were very happy, but he knew she needed another special guy in her life and he was there to help; it was his special mission. One day Mom brought home a guy to meet Dusty. Well, Mom’s guy instantly fell in love with Dusty and thought he would stick around and get to know Mom better (she had such good taste in dogs!). In no time at all he fell for Mom too and they became an inseparable three-some. Sadly their time with Dusty was cut way too short. An emergency trip to GVS one Friday night came with the news that Dusty had a very aggressive form of cancer. The doctors at GVS were great and could tell Dusty was a very special boy -- even giving him a little popcorn, one of his favorite special treats. The three-some made the most of their remaining time together and Dusty stayed as long as he could -- longer than the doctors thought he would. He had to make sure Mom and Dad were OK and in love forever. Later that year Dad proposed and made it official. They were just sad Dusty could not be there to share in their happiness. Somehow, he found a way to tell them he was. The morning of their wedding Mom and some friends went for a walk on the beach and Mom’s best friend and Maid of Honor found a bright yellow tennis ball washed up on shore. They were convinced it was sent from heaven by Dusty. So Mom and Dad were sure Duster Buster was there, watching over them and smiling. No doubt about it. Mission accomplished.
